Founder
Coach Darrell Peries boasts a diverse and accomplished career in both tennis and basketball. As a high school athlete, Darrell was a standout tennis player at Valencia High School, where he was a two-time Foothill League Champion (2006, 2007), selected First Team All Foothill League, and awarded Most Inspirational Player and Most Improved Player. He also earned the title of Foothill League Doubles Team of the Year with his partner Kevin Song in 2007 and was the CIF Foothill League Preliminary Individual Tournament Champion.
Darrell began his coaching career at Valencia High School, serving as the Head Junior Varsity Boys/Girls Tennis Coach and Varsity Assistant Coach from 2012 to 2016. During this period, he led the JV Girls team to three league championships (2012, 2013, 2014) and the JV Boys team to two league championships (2008, 2012). As an assistant coach, he helped the Varsity Girls team win the Division II CIF Southern Section Championship in 2014. Concurrently, he was a Varsity Assistant Boys Basketball Coach, contributing to the team's 2015 Varsity Foothill League Championship.
From 2016 to 2021, Darrell expanded his horizons internationally and pursued further education at Harvard University Extension School. During this period, he completed courses in Introduction to Sports Law, Politics and Policy of US Education, Nutrition in Health, and Physical Activity and Health. He also served as an English Teacher and Study Abroad Advisor in China, guiding athletes to pursue their athletic endeavors in the United States. In Manila, Philippines, he worked as a Basketball Skills Trainer for ALIGN Worldwide, mentoring young athletes, including Philippine Basketball Association (PBA) players, and served as a practice player for the 3x3 Philippine National Basketball Team and various MPBL (Maharlika Philippine Basketball League) teams. Darrell also competed in the 2018 HIBA International Basketball Tournament in Hangzhou, China, and the 2019 B-ONE International Invitational Tournament, representing the Philippines against teams from across the globe.
Returning to Valencia High School in 2021, Darrell took on the role of Head Varsity Tennis Coach for both the Boys and Girls teams. Under his leadership, the Girls team secured three consecutive Foothill League Championships (2021, 2022, 2023), and the Boys team won the Foothill League Championship in 2024. He has trained over 100 players in skill development, footwork, and stroke mechanics, and serves as a hitting partner for Division 1 NCAA tennis players, including those with a Universal Tennis Rating (UTR) of up to 12. In 2023, Darrell earned a personal training certification from the National College of Exercise Professionals. In basketball, he resumed his position on the Boys Basketball coaching staff, guiding the team to the 2023 CIF Southern Section, Southern Regional, and State Division IV Championship and the 2024 Freshman Boys Conference Championship. He has continued to mentor young athletes through private coaching, preparing them for collegiate and professional opportunities. -
Dustin Kua has an extensive background in competitive tennis and coaching, combined with a strong educational foundation. His journey began in high school, where he qualified for the Round of 16 in the 2016 and 2017 CIF State Championships, demonstrating his talent and competitive spirit early on. During these years, Dustin also participated in prestigious junior tournaments such as the Kalamazoo Junior Tennis Tournament and the Easter Bowl. The Kalamazoo Tournament is one of the most significant junior tennis events in the United States, renowned for showcasing the nation's top young talent and serving as a crucial stepping stone for future professional players. Similarly, the Easter Bowl is a major national tournament that attracts elite junior players and is considered a key event in the junior tennis circuit, highlighting Dustin's competitive caliber. Additionally, Dustin was on the Dean's List at Trinity High School, underscoring his commitment to academic excellence.
After high school, Dustin attended Cal Poly San Luis Obispo from 2018 to 2019, studying Kinesiology and Physical Therapy. During his time there, he also played for Cal Poly's Division 1 NCAA tennis team, further honing his skills and competitive edge. He then transferred to the University of Portland, where he majored in Psychology and Neuroscience from 2019 to 2021. At the University of Portland, Dustin continued to excel as a member of their Division 1 NCAA tennis team and also served as a Volunteer Assistant Coach, gaining valuable experience in coaching and team dynamics.
Since 2021, Dustin has been coaching junior tennis players privately, where he has continued to develop his coaching skills and mentor young athletes. His highest Universal Tennis Rating (UTR) of 12.2 is a testament to his high level of play and deep understanding of the game.
Recently, Dustin completed his Master's degree in Clinical Psychology at Pepperdine University, a program he pursued from 2022 to 2024. This advanced education further enhances his ability to understand and support the mental health and performance of athletes. Combining his competitive experience, coaching roles, and educational background, Dustin Kua is well-equipped to contribute significantly to the development of tennis players both on and off the court. -
